In the exacting and fast-paced world of luxury yacht sales it doesn’t pay to make the wrong choice, not even the first time around. A yacht devalues significantly the moment that you purchase it and have it transported from the factory, so the pressure is on to ensure that you’ve selected your perfect sea going match. In this way the purchase is similar to that of a car but, let’s face it, even the most desirable sports car has a price tag that feels shame in the face of a luxury yacht’s.
You may be thinking to yourself that this is simply common sense and of course you would take your time selecting an appropriate vessel, but far too many don’t have the experience on hand to know what all of their concerns should be. This isn’t simply a matter of aesthetics and that’s what every buyer needs to remember. Although we place the buyer’s sense of satisfaction when looking at their yacht very high on the list, it isn’t the sum and total of the equation. So what is?
You can’t simply take most retailers’ word for it when they recommend a vessel to you, you have to do some ground work yourself and apply a little logic. Firstly, location is of huge significance. Before you even begin to shop around for yachts that suit your style, appearance wise, you need to consider where you’ll be sailing her. Go to that destination and take a look around at what other people have in the water. In an area of heavy rainfall, for example, you’ll want something that can be closed up with the minimum of hassle whereas in a calm area you have the option of a more open plan boat.
Still on the same subject, you have to consider the size of the lake itself (unless, of course we’re talking about the open ocean) and the impact that the elements in general would have in that area. Luxury yachts do indeed come with different specializations, and selecting one that’s appropriate for the task you plan to set for it would be more than wise. Some vessels focus on power and durability meaning that the open ocean is an option but others are designed for sleek elegance and visual beauty – ruling out a pounding by violent waves. This includes considering the distances that you plan to put your new lady through.
Moving onto secondary concerns, you need to consider what additional activities you intend to engage in (and we’re not referring to ice buckets and wine for romantic entanglements, though those are destined to happen). If you’re planning on entertaining often then you need to consider size, layout and comfort. If fishing or other sports are your plan then look at how compatible your yacht is with the equipment and accessories required for those activities.
It all comes down to intelligent yacht sourcing and proper planning but with these and a few other points in mind you need have no concern about approaching the arena of luxury yacht sales.
